Privacy Policy - WMDC Mobile App

1. Summary
The WMDC app does not collect any personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or account credentials. We collect only the minimum technical data required to keep the app running reliably and to improve your experience.
2. Data We Collect and Why
2.1 Device & Operational Logs
To monitor app health and diagnose issues, the App automatically collects and sends the following to our secure logging service:

Logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. Your name, location, or prayer preferences are never included.
2.2 Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the App crashes or encounters an unexpected error, the following diagnostic information is automatically sent to Firebase Crashlytics:
- Stack trace (the code path that caused the error)
- Device model and Android/iOS version
- App version and time of occurrence
This data is used exclusively to identify and fix bugs. It is not linked to your identity and does not include your location or personal information.

2.3 App Usage Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
To understand how users interact with the App, we collect anonymised usage events:
- Which screen/tab you navigated to (e.g. "Prayer", "Qibla", "Events")
- Whether you granted notification or location permission
- Which notification settings you toggled on or off
No event records your location coordinates, specific prayer times you viewed, or any personal content.

2.4 Location (Qibla Compass Only)
The App requests access to your device location only when you open the Qibla Compass screen. Your location is:
- Used in real-time to calculate the direction of Makkah
- Never stored by the App or transmitted to our servers
- Only accessed while the App is in the foreground
You can deny location permission at any time in your device settings.
2.5 Push Notifications (Prayer Times)
The App may request permission to send local notifications to alert you at prayer times. Notifications are scheduled entirely on your device. No personal data leaves your device as part of the notification system.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your data to third parties. Data is shared only with the service providers listed above (Grafana Labs, Google Firebase) for the purposes described and under their respective privacy policies.
4. Your Choices
- Location: You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings at any time.
- Notifications: You can disable notifications in your device settings or within the App's Settings screen.
- Analytics & crash reporting: run automatically to ensure app reliability and cannot be disabled within the App.
5. Children's Privacy
The WMDC App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
